Like any restaurant, we liked some meals better than others. Everyone at our table agreed that dinner was better the first two nights than the last two nights, but that might have been our personal food preferences. The menu had more fish options as the week went on, and most of us didn’t like fish that much. You can enjoy a seated breakfast or brunch in the Imagination Restaurant on Deck 8 as well as dinner in the Imagination and Inspiration Restaurants.

The fourth floor cabins are quiet, but they are far from the coffee, snacks and beverages on Deck 10. I recommend a Deck 6 cabin for better convenience to shipboard amenities. The ship has the basic activities, expected on most cruise ships in the Caribbean. As for the age, if your focus is on the fun you can have and the experiences you share, you won’t mind the slightly outdated décor. In short, so long as you’re not prioritizing experiencing only the biggest, best and flashiest in cruising, you’ll likely find something to enjoy about Carnival Elation.

Interior cabin walls are bland beige, but the artwork suggests watercolor surf boards stacked on a beach. Bedding, towels and carpet were all in great shape, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. The ship was last updated in 2023, and it still looks fresh and clean. The rich, warm browns, beautiful lights, gleaming floors and railings are striking.

A fleet-first feature for a Fun Ship is CCL Elation's dedicated conference center able to accommodate small groups for private meetings. Do note, while the above cabins do offer a lot to love, such as a nice amount of floor space, and large balconies, for all their upkeep, the décor is a reminder of the ship’s age. That said, if you want just a little more by way of luxury, you can find it, to a degree, with a suite. If this Carnival Elation review has sold you on this beautiful ship, read other reviews online. I think this is the only real complaint in this Carnival Elation Review. It would have been nice to have free coffee and water stations at the bar on Deck 7 for convenient morning coffee for those of us with lower deck cabins.

Over its lifetime, Carnival Elation has primarily stuck to cruises around North America. MOM’S….sometimes us kids just have to step past their decisions and do what’s best, just like you did…..I hope you had a great time. The Grand Suite is very similar in terms of interior. In the 2010s, it offered Western Caribbean itineraries from both Alabama and New Orleans, before moving on to Florida and cruises to the Bahamas. Since, the ship has mostly stayed in the same area, sailing the Caribbean from various homeports in the Sunshine State. The most recent dry dock took place in early 2023, with cosmetic enhancements including a new hull design and paint scheme, plus some minor changes, like rebranding the ship’s spa as the Cloud 9 Spa. Always one of my family's most favorite Carnival ships. We are partial to the Carnival Pride because they actually started the Carnival Life Long Cruise Journey for the family.
In 2019 (March 2-26) the ship entered drydock at Grand Bahama Shipyard (Freeport Bahamas). During the refurbishment, aft on Deck 9/Promenade (in the space previously occupied by the Cole Porter lounge) were added 30 new staterooms and the Alchemy Bar. The new cabins' modules were delivered by ALMACO (drydocking project's management company). Carnival Elation offers a few different complimentary dining options. While you don’t get the range and breadth of options you might enjoy on Carnival’s newer ships, you certainly get enough to keep you occupied for the duration of a short cruise.

The passenger parking lot was right at the dock, no walking across the street, I don’t know if there was a cost. Taxi service was readily available as soon as we left the terminal.
